Back to the 90s

Rummaging through the Vintage Magazine Shop in Soho a few days ago I came across old Vogue Catwalk Supplements from the early 1990s. They are an excellent way to see the trends that were hot and stalking the catwalks for that particular season, and it was such an eye-opener for how cyclical the trends are; metallics, punk, minimalism, colour – all trends that were up-and-about in the 90s as much as they are now.

My favourite look is this pale pink Chanel trouser suit – what I would give to have that now… It provides a modest nod to the (at the time) not so distant 80s by showing you how to power dress, but it’s not as extreme as the past decade. The colour is a style-eternal and the pleating of the trousers is beautifully perfect. And partnered with a crisp white shirt and a matching pink Chanel bow it is an outfit that could be worn in any decade and still look as stylish as Coco herself…
