London Fashion Weekend

I think I've found my new favourite designer. This is the beauty of London Fashion Weekend; it gives you to chance to see and feel and try on the luxurious clothes of new designers that are affordable. And touch was definitely the sense of the season as the rails were packed with silk, silk and more silk. And this is where Charlotte Taylor came into it. I have a thing for clothes that look like pajamas because they simultaneously ooze comfort, elegance and ease, so naturally I love Haider Ackermann’s creations for their pajama-like structure and design. Charlotte Taylor, however, is that little bit better because not only are the clothes a lot cheaper but they’re fun with circus-themed patterns and bright, but not garish, colours. The giant penguin silhouettes and the elephants balancing on balls are fabulous designs and will definitely be going on my ‘save-up-to-buy’ list in both the silk shirts and the dresses. The London Fashion Weekend also showed an interesting trend in jewellery; the idea of having to look twice. The jewellery was either very fine necklaces, earrings and rings in dark tones of silver and gold, or extremely bold and brash brighter items. But the surprising thing to note was how on closer inspection both types gave off the opposite message to that gathered from the first sweeping looking; the fine jewellery was in the designs of bones and claws and animals feet whereas the more garish costume jewellery were made out of pearls, beads and ribbons- much softer, prettier materials. I think I’ll be going for the more garish jewellery – claws and chicken feet don’t really do it for me…
